Extended Day for 2022–2023

What's New in 2022–2023:

  1. A Myriad of Enrichment Classes for PK–Grade 5 Students: Click here for our Winter 2023 Enrichment Class Guide, with classes offered by many of our favorite (and some new) vendors. In order to promote equal opportunity for all students, some classes may have registration limitations on the number of times a student can repeat the class.
  2. After-school Garderie for TYPK–Grade 5 Students and 4x4 for Grade 6–8 Students Offered Until 6:00pm: Parents will be able to pick up their student(s) from Garderie and/or 4x4 at any time between the end of the school day and 6:00pm.
  3. Yearlong Garderie for TYPK–Grade 5 Students and Yearlong 4x4 for Grade 6–8 Students Offered: During the August 2022 registration period only, we will be offering the option to register for Garderie (TYPK–Grade 5) and 4x4 (Middle School) for the entire school year (the most cost-effective option for families needing after-school care for the entire school year). Yearlong registration is only offered for all five days of the week (minus blackout dates) — click here for Auxiliary Programs calendar. If you would also like to register your student(s) for Enrichment classes or Middle School Clubs, a flat rate of $100 will be transferred from your yearlong fees towards each class or club. In addition to yearlong options, registration will be available on a trimester basis.
  4. Homework Help for Grade 3–5 Students: Homework Help (while not tutoring) will be an hour-long group session after school with a French-speaking faculty member assisting students with their homework. Registration is by trimester, and space is limited (depending on staff availability, Homework Help may not be offered every day of the week).
  5. Guest-Use Garderie (TYPK–Grade 5) and Guest-Use 4x4 (Grades 6–8): For those families who anticipate needing Extended Day care for their student(s) but not on a regular basis, FASPS is offering limited space Guest-Use Garderie and limited space Guest-Use 4x4. In order to participate, families must pre-purchase a “Carnet” (guest pass) of 5 or 10 pre-paid service days. To redeem one of your pre-paid service days, you must email Garderie@FASPS.org beforehand and receive confirmation that there is space available on your chosen day. We will do our best to accommodate last-minute Guest-Use requests, but we cannot guarantee that there will be space on a given day. It is important that you make your request as far in advance as possible and that you receive confirmation. If you do not have a Carnet on your account and you end up using Guest-Use Garderie / Guest-Use 4x4, we will add a Carnet to your account. There will be no single-use Garderie or single-use 4x4 payment options.

TYPK–PK Extended Day Program Details:

  • Along with a yearlong TYPK–PK Garderie option in 2022–2023, we will offer trimester-long registration options as well.
  • TYPK–PK Garderie will be organized by grade regardless of class placement, in other words, there will be a TYPK group, a YPK group, and a PK group.
  • PK students will also have the opportunity to register for an Enrichment class on a trimester-long basis. Students enrolled in yearlong Garderie will be given a registration code, and $100 of yearlong fees will be transferred towards Enrichment class fees per class taken. PK Enrichment classes will be 45 minutes long. Garderie after Enrichment will be available if desired.
  • Please click here for our 2022–2023 Extended Day Payment and Cancellation Policies.
  • Hours: TYPK–PK Garderie will begin at 3:30pm, with a snack provided by the school. Garderie will run until 6:00pm, with pick-up at any time between 3:30pm and 6:00pm.
  • PK Enrichment classes will run 3:45–4:30pm, with Enrichment pick-up from 4:30pm to 4:45pm. Garderie after activities will also be available by pre-registration only until 6:00pm.
  • See below for fee structure.

Kindergarten–Grade 5 Extended Day Program Details:

  • Please click here for our 2022–2023 Extended Day Payment and Cancellation Policies.
  • Garderie groups will be divided into K–1, 2–3, and 4–5, with flexible pick-up at any time before 6:00pm.
  • Families will once again be able to choose the Enrichment classes that most interest their students, and classes may use different grade level groupings (for example, K–2 or 3–5). Enrichment classes will run from 3:30pm to 4:30pm (with a few exceptions for slightly longer classes). Families may either pick up their student(s) directly after their Enrichment class or register for Garderie after activities.
  • Parents who do not pick up their student(s) within 15 minutes after their scheduled Enrichment class ends will be charged use of one of the guest passes on their Carnet. If there is not a Carnet already on your account, we will add one (see below for fee structure).
  • When registering, parents will have the following choices: Garderie five days a week for the whole year, or Garderie for one trimester at a time on the day(s) of your choosing (up to all five days), or Enrichment classes and/or Homework Help on the day(s) of your choosing. Parents can choose to purchase 5- or 10-use Carnets as well (Guest-Use Garderie passes).
  • Students enrolled in yearlong Garderie will be given a code to apply at registration, and $100 of yearlong fees will be transferred towards Enrichment class fees per class taken.
  • Enrichment classes will have a two-week “trial” period. If your student decides they no longer wish to participate in a class, you may cancel their registration for a refund of the remaining classes in the trimester.
  • Garderie and all Enrichment classes (except for Homework Help) will begin the first day of school (September 7, 2022) and go through the last day of school (June 9, 2023). Homework Help will begin on September 12, 2022, and end on June 3, 2023.
  • Hours: K–5 Garderie will begin at 3:30pm with a snack provided by the school. Enrichment classes will begin promptly at 3:30pm; a snack will not be provided, but parents are encouraged to send their students with a snack to eat before class starts. Most classes are one hour long, running from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Select classes will run from 3:30pm to 5:00pm, which will be clearly communicated in the Class Guide. K–5 Garderie will run until 6:00pm. Families may pick up their student(s) from Garderie at any time between 3:30pm and 6:00pm. Students in Enrichment classes should be picked up within 15 minutes of the end of their class. Pick-ups after this 15-minute grace period may result in the use of one guest pass on your Carnet. If you do not have a Carnet, you may be charged for one due to late pick-up. You may opt to register your student(s) for Garderie after their class, which allows flexible pick-up at any time before 6:00pm.
  • Morning Garderie will be available again for K–5 students, beginning at 7:30am.

Middle School Extended Day Program Details:

  • Four by Four (4x4), or “quatre quatre” as it has come to be known in French, is our Middle School Extended Day program, which offers four options for Middle School students, all beginning at 4:00pm.
  • Registration in 4x4 allows your Middle School student access to the basic after-school program, which includes both Atelier, where students can work on schoolwork and receive help from a native French speaker, and Recreation, which is the opportunity for students to play games, go outside, and have social time with friends.
  • Middle School Clubs are offered most days from 4:00pm to 5:00pm and are led by Middle School faculty or external vendors. Students can sign up for Clubs even if they are not registered in 4x4. Students enrolled in yearlong 4x4 will be given a code to apply at registration, and $100.00 of yearlong fees will be transferred towards Club fees for each Club a student is signed up for. Please note that Club registration will open separately for fall trimester, as we are waiting to confirm faculty schedules. A separate communication will be sent when Club registration becomes available.
  • The fourth option for 4x4 is Athletics, but that’s an entirely separate subject that will have its own communications.
  • Hours: All 4x4 activities will start at 4:00pm. Clubs will end at 5:00pm, and students who participate in Clubs are still eligible to take the 5:00pm bus. Parents have a 15-minute grace period to pick students up after the end of a Club unless students are registered in 4x4 after activities. At 5:00pm, Atelier will end, and all students who stay from 5:00pm to 6:00pm will be moved to Recreation, which may be combined with Lower School Garderie, depending on staffing.

School Breaks, In-service Days, and Parent-Teacher Conference Days

  • October Break: Monday–Friday, October 17–21, 2022
  • February Break: Tuesday–Friday, February 21–24, 2023 (No camp or Garderie on Monday, February 20, in observance of Presidents’ Day)

Registration Details:

  • Registration for all grades in Extended Day programs must be done in advance using FASPS’s online portal (CLICK HERE). As always, Extended Day registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and we will start a waitlist as soon as a group is full.
  • Registration for all yearlong and fall trimester options opens Monday, August 8, 2022, and closes Monday, August 29, 2022.
  • Please note that Middle School Club registration will open separately, closer to the start of the school year, as soon as faculty schedules are confirmed. Recreation and Atelier registration will open on August 8, and a follow-up communication will be sent to announce Club registration when it becomes available.
