The Preliminary Visit is a means for the association to assess whether a school is ready to host a visiting team. The visit serves to give the Chair a feel for the status of the school in the accreditation (or Self-Study process), whether the school understands the process, and whether the school is in position to host a visit.
The association takes this aspect of the accreditation process to be an essential part of the entire accreditation process. A thorough assessment of the school’s readiness for a team visit helps to avoid a visit for which the school is not ready and minimizes the likelihood of undue expenditures of time and money for all involved.
