What is an Affinity Group? 
 
Affinity groups provide a supportive space where employees connect with peers who share similar experiences, challenges, or cultural backgrounds, grounded in shared identities. By limiting it to people who share similar identifiers, the affinity group remains a comfortable, safe space where members can connect with others. Through activities, discussions, and listening sessions, affinity groups aim to enhance cultural awareness, understanding, belonging, and empathy.

Middle School Affinity Groups 

Middle School (MS) is a pivotal time for self-exploration. Affinity groups allow students to explore aspects of their identity, such as race, ethnicity, gender, or other shared experiences, in a supportive environment. This helps build confidence and a positive self-image. When students feel understood and valued in their school community, they tend to be more engaged academically. Affinity groups help students process challenges and build resilience, which can translate to improved focus and motivation in the classroom.

Difference between a Club and an Affinity Group 
 
A club is typically based on shared interests or activities, open to anyone interested, while an affinity group centers on shared identities or life experiences, offering a space specifically for individuals who identify with those experiences to connect and support one another.
