SPRING TRIMESTER ADULT FRENCH PROGRAM

We’re thrilled to welcome back our former and current students with exciting new classes in our Spring Trimester Adult French program. Whether you're looking to build on your existing skills or take your French to the next level, we've got something for everyone!

Spring Classes run from March 31  – June 18, 2025.
 
Everyone is required to take a Placement test (test attached here).

A1 (Beginner, part 2/8) online – French for Returning Beginners 

THURS, 9:15 AM-10:15 AM, April 3 to June 12, 2025; 10 hours of instruction, No classes on April 7-15 (Spring Break Camp) $305  
  • Description: A course designed for true beginners. The students will start learning how to interact in a simple way, to ask and answer simple questions about themselves, and to initiate and respond to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics. This is the second class in the 8-part A1 series.
  • Classes are conducted online, through the Oncord Student Portal with an integrated Zoom videoconferencing link. The online group classes are limited to seven learners.
  • Prerequisite: A1 Part 1 class or A1.1 0-50% on placement test. New students and students returning after more than 3 quarters are required to take a short online placement test (test attached here).
  • Class Materials: Défi 1 workbook + textbook (Unit 2) or directly from our US-based distributor Klett World Languages A
 
A2 (Intermediate, part 1/8) online – General French for Intermediate learners

MON, 5:15 PM-6:15 PM, March 31 to June 16, 2025; 9 hours of instruction, No classes on April 7-15 (Spring Break Camp) & May 26 (Memorial Day) $274.50
  • Description: A course designed for intermediate students. At this level, students will expand their capacity to describe themselves and those close to them, as well as begin to talk about events in the past with more precision. Students will be able to effectively describe their basic needs using clear and colloquial language and navigate a variety of situations related to daily life and travel. This is the second class in the 8-part A2 series.
  • Classes are conducted online, through the Oncord Student Portal with an integrated Zoom videoconferencing link. The online group classes are limited to eight learners.
  • Prerequisite: A2 (part 1) course or an A2.1 or A2.2 result on placement test. New students and students returning after more than 3 quarters are required to take a short online placement test (test attached here).
  • Class Materials: Défi 2 workbook + textbook (chapter 2) or directly from our US-based distributor Klett World Languages
 
A2+/B1 Oral Communication SPRING 1 – online – Specialized conversation course 

TUE, 10:30-11:30 AM, April 1 to May 13, 2025, 5 hours of instruction, No classes on April 7-15 (Spring Break Camp) $152.5
  • Description: This class is designed for students who are at the end of the A2 or early B1 level and who wish to strengthen and practice their oral comprehension and production skills through a communicative and action-oriented approach to language learning. Some written comprehension and production may be introduced in support of the targeted oral communication outcomes. Each week, a theme will be explored through a reading and/or listening exercise appropriate to the level. Relevant vocabulary and one or more grammar points at the A2/B1 level will be reviewed based on support materials and put into practice through structured activities designed to generate authentic conversation, including role playing, presentations, discussions, games, etc.
  • Classes are conducted online, through the Oncord Student Portal with an integrated Zoom videoconferencing link. The online group classes are limited to eight learners.
  • Prerequisite: A2.3 or B1.1 course or result on placement test. New students and students returning after more than 3 quarters are required to take a short online placement test (test attached here).
  • Class Materials: The instructor will use a variety of materials made available to learners on AFSeattle’s student portal. Learners are not required to purchase a workbook.
 
A2+/B1 French for Travel SPRING 2 – online – Specialized conversation course 

TUE, 10:30-11:30 AM, May 20 to June 17, 2025, 5 hours of instruction; $152.5
  • Description: This class is designed for students who are at the end of the A2 or early B1 level and who wish to strengthen and practice their oral comprehension and production skills through a communicative and action-oriented approach to language learning. This class is part two to the A2+/B1 Oral Communications course and will explore topics relevant to travel and culture. 
  • Classes are conducted online, through the Oncord Student Portal with an integrated Zoom videoconferencing link. The online group classes are limited to eight learners.
  • Prerequisite: A2.3 or B1.1 course or result on placement test. New students and students returning after more than 3 quarters are required to take a short online placement test (test attached here).
