WINTER TRIMESTER ADULT FRENCH PROGRAM

We’re thrilled to welcome back our former and current students with exciting new classes in our Winter Trimester Adult French program. Whether you're looking to build on your existing skills or take your French to the next level, we've got something for everyone!

Winter Classes run from January 8 - March 26, 2026.
 
Everyone is required to take a Placement test (test attached here).

A1 (Beginner, part 2/8) online – General French for True Beginners 
 Friday, 11:15 am – 12:15 pm, January 9 to March 20, 10 hours of instruction ($335)
Instructor: Kélian Brosse 
  • A course designed for true beginners. The students will start learning how to interact in a simple way, to ask and answer simple questions about themselves, and to initiate and respond to simple statements in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics. This is the second class in an eight-part A1 series designed specifically for FASPS parents and guardians. 
  • Classes are conducted online through the Oncord Student Portal with an integrated Zoom videoconferencing link. The online group classes are limited to eight learners. 
  • Course Pace: Regular, 10 weeks, once per week, 1h per session online. 
  • Prerequisite: Please take our level assessment by January 2, 2026, at https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/ and AF Seattle will be in touch if we need more information. 
  • Class Materials: Défi 1 workbook + textbook (Unit 2) or directly from our US-based distributor Klett World Languages 
No classes:  
  • January 28-29 (parent-teacher conferences) 
  • February 16-20 (February break) 
 
 
A2 Conversation and Grammar – online – Specialized course 
Thursday, 10:00-11:00am, January 8-March 26, 10 hours of instruction ($335)
Instructor: Lusiné Shoukourian 
  • This class is designed for learners finishing the A2 level who want to gain confidence and fluency in real-life communication. Using a communicative, action-oriented approach, students will actively develop their listening and speaking skills through meaningful interaction. Short reading and writing tasks may be introduced to support and reinforce oral communication goals.  
  • Each week, students will explore a new, level-appropriate theme through engaging listening and/or reading activities. Key vocabulary and essential A2 grammar points will be reviewed using targeted support materials, then immediately put into practice through interactive tasks that encourage authentic use of the language. Classes will feature a variety of dynamic activities such as role-plays, presentations, discussions, and games, giving students frequent opportunities to speak, collaborate, and communicate with confidence. 
  • Course Pace: Regular, 10 weeks, once per week, 1h per session online. 
  • Classes are conducted online through the Oncord Student Portal with an integrated Zoom videoconferencing link. The online group classes are limited to seven learners.  
  • Prerequisite: A1.3 or A2.1 course or result on placement test.  
  • New students and students returning after more than 3 quarters are required to take a short online placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/ (due on January 2, 2026) 
  • Class Materials: The instructor will use a variety of materials made available to learners on AFSeattle’s student portal. 
No classes:  
  • January 28-29 (parent-teacher conferences) 
  • February 16-20 (February break) 
 
A2+/B1 French for Travel – online – Specialized course 
Friday, 12:30-1:30pm, January 16-February 13, 5 hours of instruction ($167.50)
Instructor: Lusiné Shoukourian 
  • Planning a trip to France or a Francophone country soon? This course is designed to help you feel more confident and prepared by reviewing essential vocabulary for travel. You'll learn key phrases and expressions to navigate airports, hotels, restaurants, and other common travel situations. In addition to vocabulary, the course will provide you with practical tips and cultural insights for everyday life abroad. Whether you're a first-time visitor or returning to a French-speaking destination, this course will equip you with the tools you need to make the most of your journey and ensure a smoother, more enjoyable experience while immersing yourself in the local culture. 
  • Classes are conducted online through the Oncord Student Portal with an integrated Zoom videoconferencing link. The online group classes are limited to seven learners.  
  • Course Pace: Regular, 5 weeks, once per week, 1h per session online. 
  • Prerequisite: A1.3, A1 Review, or A2.1 course or result on placement test.  
  • New students and students returning after more than 3 quarters are required to take a short online placement test https://www.afseattle.org/placement-tests/  (due on January 2, 2026)
