A NEW ENTRY POINT TO FASPS MIDDLE SCHOOL
Proposed launch • Grade 6 • 2027–28

MORE WAYS IN. MORE WORLDS OPEN.

A new Grade 6 pathway centered on English instruction — with French learning and a choice of Spanish or Mandarin.

FASPS is planning a Grade 6 dual-language track with approximately 70% English and 30% French instruction. It would provide another entry point alongside the existing French-led track, while maintaining a shared FASPS Middle School experience.

CHOOSE A LANGUAGE BALANCE THAT FITS.

WHAT THE SCHOOL DAY COULD LOOK LIKE

A CONNECTED EXPERIENCE, NOT A SEPARATE SCHOOL.

The proposal describes a Grade 6 structure in which some learning is organized by language pathway and other learning brings students together across sections.

01

A strong academic programme

Students in the proposed English-led track would study core disciplines including mathematics, humanities, sciences, arts, design, and physical education.

02

French from a different starting point

The new section would study French as a beginner language, rather than joining the French language arts class designed for the existing French-led sections.

03

Additional language choice

Students across Grade 6 would choose Spanish or Mandarin and be grouped by their language selection rather than by their primary track.

GRADE 6 PATHWAY FAQ

When is the new Grade 6 pathway planned to open?

The board proposal describes an initial Grade 6 section for the 2027–28 school year. Final launch and admissions details should be confirmed by FASPS.

Is this replacing the existing French-led Middle School pathway?

No. The plan keeps the existing Grade 6 French-led sections and adds a third section with a different English/French balance.

Can students begin learning French in this pathway?

The proposed section includes French as a beginner-language course. Admissions will need to confirm individual placement and eligibility requirements.

What additional language choices are available?

The proposal includes Spanish or Mandarin. Students would be grouped with peers studying the same additional language across Grade 6 sections.

Will English-led students be separate all day?

No. The proposed structure combines students from different sections for some subjects and organizes other subjects separately by instructional language.

Does the new pathway change the overall academic load?

The board proposal describes the same 32.5-hour weekly teaching total across both Grade 6 tracks, with different instructional-language distribution.
