Diversity,
Equity & Inclusion

A PLACE Where Everyone Belongs

We celebrate the diversity of our community and foster an inclusive environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

As a French American school, we understand the unique blend of cultures and perspectives that our community represents.

Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is not only a reflection of our values but also a testament to our belief that a culturally diverse learning environment enriches the educational experience and prepares our students to be global citizens.

In alignment with these principles, FASPS is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive community, as we empower our students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, preparing them to contribute positively to the world around them.

DEI COUNCIL AND DEI Committee

The DEI Council was established in 2016 by faculty members to foster a more inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive school community. Composed of faculty and staff, the council collaborates to develop initiatives, share resources, and guide conversations that advance DEI principles across the school.

The council works closely with school leadership, affinity groups, and the Board of Trustees’ DEI Committee to support meaningful and sustainable progress.

The DEI Committee of the Board of Trustees provides strategic guidance and oversight in support of the school’s DEI commitments. In partnership with school leadership and the DEI Council, the committee helps ensure that equity and inclusion remain deeply integrated into the school’s mission, priorities, and long-term vision.

    BELONGING AND IDENTITY

At FASPS, our affinity groups are voluntary, community-driven initiatives that warmly welcome all members of our school community. These groups create meaningful opportunities for students, faculty, and families to connect, share, and learn. Aligned with FASPS's unwavering commitment to non-discrimination, equity, and inclusivity, affinity groups nurture a strong sense of belonging, foster positive relationships, and promote open, respectful dialogue.

    STORIES AND TRADITIONS

Cultural assemblies provide opportunities for students to learn about and celebrate the diverse languages, traditions, histories, and perspectives represented within our school community and beyond. These gatherings support students’ understanding of identity and belonging as part of their broader learning experience and encourage respectful curiosity and appreciation for differences and shared human experiences. In Elementary and Middle School, cultural learning is often embedded in community assemblies and classroom experiences, helping students build awareness of identity, including aspects such as language, family structure, culture, and traditions, in age-appropriate and meaningful ways.

    EQUITY AND INCLUSION

At FASPS, we are committed to building an equitable and engaging community where every student, family, and employee is valued, supported, and has the opportunity to succeed. Our inclusive practices, equitable policies, and intentionally designed learning opportunities foster a culture rooted in dignity, belonging, and mutual respect. We continually evaluate and improve our approaches to ensure all members of our community experience true equity and inclusion.

    COLLABORATION AND INCLUSION

The Faculty DEI Council is a collaborative group of faculty and staff dedicated to advancing inclusion, belonging, and cultural responsiveness throughout our school community. Council members engage in ongoing dialogue, lead professional development, and initiate actions that make our environment more inclusive. The council welcomes input and involvement from all members of our community, ensuring that every voice is valued in shaping our collective experience.

  • FAMILY ENGAGEMENT

We believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential to student success. Through educational workshops, diverse community events, and ongoing opportunities for dialogue, we engage families as active partners in building an inclusive, welcoming school community. We invite families from all backgrounds to share their perspectives and participate in shaping our culture of belonging.

    STUDENT WELLBEING

Student wellbeing is at the heart of our educational mission. Through a comprehensive social-emotional learning curriculum, supportive relationships, and culturally responsive practices, we help students develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to thrive, academically, socially, and emotionally. Our approach recognizes and affirms every student’s unique identity and lived experience, supporting their growth as compassionate, engaged members of a diverse community.
