IB Middle Years Program

FASPS is engaged in implementing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP).

Designed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of adolescents, this rigorous curriculum teaches students to make connections between their classroom studies and the world around them. The program inspires children to approach problem-solving in a creative and resourceful manner. As a result, middle schoolers develop strong critical thinking skills as well as an ability to reflect upon the learning experience.

The IB Programme focuses on five key areas:

  • Approaches to learning
  • Community and service
  • Human ingenuity
  • Environments
  • Health and social education

These five pillars provide a framework for exploration and investigation across all disciplines, and integrate the concepts of ethics, aesthetics and interdependence into the students' experience. IB learners demonstrate an "international mindedness" and embrace inquiry, reflection, risk-taking and balance into their own approach to learning.
