The International Middle School at FASPS offers a rigorous academic program with a truly international world view.
All students are welcome at the International Middle School regardless of their previous knowledge of French. Students are placed in one of two sections: a monolingual English section or a bilingual French-English section. Students who thrive in the International Middle School tend to be curious, open-minded, reflective young people who are eager to learn.
To apply for admission, parents should:
Submit the Application for Admissions
Complete and return the application for admissions no later than February 11, 2010. Include the $80 non-refundable application fee.
Take the Independent School Test (ISEE)
Applicants are expected to take the ISEE. Check the ISEE web site at /admissions/middle-school/www.issetest.org regarding registration and test dates. The school’s code is 481721 (French American School of Puget Sound). The ISEE is not required for students coming from French schools.
Attend an Information Night
Prospective parents and students should attend an Information Night. This event will provide detailed information regarding the International Middle School program and an opportunity to visit the new state-of-the-art facility, meet teachers, and ask questions.
Come for a school visit and interview
All students applying to the school will come for a class visit and an interview with the Middle School Division Head. Once the application for admission is received, a visit/interview will be scheduled.
Write a Student Statement
On a separate sheet of paper, students should write a brief statement about themselves, their personal interests and experiences, and why they would like to attend the International Middle School.
Request official school records from current school to be sent
These records are directly mailed by the current school in a sealed envelope. In lieu of teacher evaluation forms and ISEE test results, students attending French schools send copies of "bulletins scolaires" or "livrets d' évaluation" (progress reports) from the current school year (2009-2010) and the preceding year (2008-2009).
Ask two teachers to write evaluations
The Teacher Evaluation Forms should be completed by an English teacher and a Mathematics teacher. They are mailed directly by the teachers in the envelopes provided.
To reserve a space at an Information Night or to receive an application packet please contact the Director of Admissions at 206-275-3533 ext. 275 or email admissions@fasps.org.
Deadline for applying is Thursday, February 11, 2010. Decision letters are mailed on Thursday, March 18, 2010.
